Is The Keto Diet Menu The Next Must Have For Restaurants in Kenya?

Ever heard of the Keto diet? It is very popular all over the world as one of the most effective diets, giving wild results in just a few weeks. Ladies and gentlemen, I hereby introduce to you the “high fat, low carb” diet, also known as the Keto diet.

This diet mainly consists of foods that are high in fats; you heard me, you may now eat all the fatty foods you please and have been salivating over without fear of exploding. Thanks to science, and our anatomy, fats have been proven to be great for weight loss.

Let me explain: our bodies burn fats faster than they burn carbs. This diet involves a very low-carb intake, high-fat diet in order to work. Replacing carbs with fats is the name of the game. When you religiously follow this rule, the body becomes increasingly efficient at burning fat for energy, since there is little or no carbs in your body. This is what we call Ketosis.

This diet causes massive reductions in blood sugar and insulin levels. This has numerous health benefits.

This diet has many advantages, such as;

  • It is very filling, your meal consists of 75% fat, 20% protein and only 5% carbs. You can lose weight without counting calories.
  • You lose 3 times more weight than most diets.
  • Your body no longer stores sugar/ energy in your body, thus it will break down protein and fat for energy instead.
  • Disease prevention such as; type 2 diabetes, bipolar disorder, obesity, Dementia and Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s disease, certain cancers among others.
  • You can easily lose weight without exercising.

With all these great benefits, should the hospitality industry include the diet in their menu? I am sure after this very compelling article, it will be a serious consideration.

Some of the foods you should include in your diet are;

Fats; Oils like olive oil, avocado oil and coconut oil, avocado, heavy cream, cream cheese, butter, nuts such as almonds and macadamia.

Vegetables; spinach, kale, cabbage. Basically, vegetables that grow above ground.

Proteins; Meat such as chicken, fish (particularly fatty fish like salmon and sardines), pork, lamb. Eggs are also very important. You may also eat sausages, bacon, ham in moderation.

Drinks; during this diet, try and avoid beer, whiskey and vodka, but wine is fairly good. Take black coffee, tea and water. Milk is also good.

This diet has great results, having tried it myself, I , without fear of contradiction, totally support it. People have lost upto 25 kgs in just 2 months, and keeping it off is easy.

With this diet being popular especially among ladies in Kenya, I suggest that restaurants try placing delicacies that are keto-based, to attract guests.
